The club from the small town of 5,000 inhabitants 15 km south of Copenhagen has only been in the highest league for three years, and now they appear on the international scene for the first time. With the 69 times international John "Faxe" Jensen Herfølge have hired a very experienced man as the playing-coach for the upcoming season. He was European Champion with Denmark in 1992, and two years later he won the Cupwinners' Cup with Arsenal London. He took over from Jesper Pedersen, who on his part had replaced Ole Moerch in the middle of the season. It happens time and again that young local players manage to join the Herfølge team, but then they leave for one of the big clubs. Thus top scorer Jimmy Kastrup was transferred at the beginning of the new season. Herfølge had started the season with four wins in a row and a goal average of 12:2, but the first loss in the ninth round had them fall back quickly. Der Klub aus dem 5000-Seelen-Städtchen, 15 km südlich von Kopenhagen gelegen, spielt erst seit drei Jahren in der höchsten Liga. Nun tritt er zum ersten Mal zu internationalen Spielen an. Mit dem 69fachen Internationalen John "Faxe" Jensen hat Herfølge für die nächste Saison einen ausgewiesenen und erfahrenen Mann als Spielertrainer verpflichtet. Jensen wurde mit Dänemark 1992 Europameister und gewann zwei Jahre später mit Arsenal London den Europacup der Cupsieger. Er übernahm das Traineramt von Jesper Pedersen, der seinerseits im Verlaufe der abgelaufenen Saison Ole Moerch ersetzt hatte. Immer wieder schaffen einheimische Spieler den Sprung in die erste Mannschaft von Herfølge, wandern dann aber zu den Grossklubs ab. So wechselte beispielsweise Goalgetter Jimmy Kastrup auf die neue Spielzeit den Verein. Herfølge war mit vier Siegen und 12:2 Toren in die letzte Saison gestartet. Nach der ersten Niederlage in der 9. Runde wurde es rasch zurückgeworfen und beendete die Meisterschaft erwartungsgemäss im gesicherten Mittelfeld. -sw
