The club's new president is Harry Harkimo, who has also run the ice hockey club with the same name since 1992. He made Jokerit one of the best hockey teams in Europe and helped them financially by building the Hartwall Arena. The man, who met many rich people while sailing, has similar plans for the football section. In the year 2000, Jokerit will play in Finland's first football only stadium with 30,000 seats. Currently the average attendance is only around 2,000. The club's fast rise was also made possible by the charismatic coach Pasi Rautiainen. The former Bundesliga player (Bayern Munich, Arminia Bielefeld) took the poor amateur club over in the lowest league and, within six years only, lead them to third rank in the Pro League. Rautiainen is a very ambitious man; his area marking system is very demanding for his equally matched squad, which lack a real star. -ba
Der Verein wird neuerdings durch Harry Harkimo präsidiert, der seit 1992 dem gleichnamigen Eishockey-Klub vorsteht. Diesen führte er an die europäische Spitze und liess ihn durch die neuerstellte Hartwall-Arena in finanzieller Hinsicht gesunden. Ähnliches will Harkimo, der in der Segelszene gross wurde und dort reiche Leute kennen lernte, nun im Fussball erreichen. Im Jahr 2000 wird Jokerit von der Olympiaanlage ins erste reine Fussballstadion Finnlands ziehen, das 30'000 Zuschauern Platz bieten wird. Momentan pilgern nur etwas über 2000 Anhänger zu den Heimspielen Jokerits. Den rasanten Aufstieg verdankte PK-35 bisher seinem charismatischen Trainer Pasi Rautiainen. Der frühere Bundesliga-Spieler (Bayern München, Arminia Bielefeld) hatte den armseligen Amateurverein in der untersten Liga übernommen und in sechs Jahren auf den dritten Platz der Profiliga geführt. Ehrgeizig ist Rautiainen nicht nur als Mensch, auch sein System mit Zonendeckung verlangt von seinem ausgeglichenen Team, dem ein eigentlicher Star fehlt, viel. -lb
