The football club are the pride of Prilep, with 70,000 inhabitants the third largest city of the country. Pobeda ("winner") were Macedonia's most successful representative in former Yugoslavia. Since 1992, when the association was founded, Prilep are approaching gropingly the top of the table. "Beautifully, entertainingly, successfully", that is how coach Dragan Kanatlarovski would like to see his team play -- just the way he used to play with Partizan Belgrade. Last season's 3rd rank, however, was as much the result of their excellent defence as their offensive strength. Gilson and Rozelio Oliveira provide a South American touch to the team. With his 22 goals scored, Oliveira was the country's top scorer. When the naturalization process is over, Oliveira can be called to the national team. In midfield the fast Nik olce Zdravevski excels. Goalkeeper Goce Grujoski was given the highest rating by the journalists after Prilep beat Sileks Kratovo 2:0 in front of 7,000 spectators. Verbandes 1992 tastete sich Prilep behutsam an die Ranglistenspitze heran. "Schön, unterhaltsam, erfolgreich," will Trainer Dragan Kanatlarovski sein Team spielen sehen -- eben so, wie er einst im Aufbau von Partizan Belgrad. Für den 3. Rang der vergangenen Saison war, bei allem Angriffsgeist, die ausgezeichnete Abwehrarbeit zumindest mitverantwortlich. Gilson und Rozelio Oliveira vermitteln der Mannschaft einen südamerikanischen Anstrich. Oliveira wurde mit 22 Treffern Torschützenkönig. Das laufende Einbürgerungsverfahren soll ihm Einsätze in der Landesauswahl ermöglichen. Im Mittelfeld fällt der schnelle, dribbelstarke Nikolce Zdravevski auf. Torwart Goce Grujoski wurde von den Journalisten nach dem Sieg gegen Sileks Kratovo (2:0), dem 7'000 Zuschauer beiwohnten, mit der Höchstnote ausgezeichnet.
