Schlussrang war angesichts des Potentials der Mannschaft ein gutes Ergebnis. Trainer ist seit 1998 der 60jährige Florin Halagian, der während seiner aktiven Laufbahn lange Zeit bei Dinamo Bukarest gespielt hatte. Er lässt sein Team im klassischen 4-4-2 System spielen. Bei Auswärtsspielen allerdings ist er vorsichtiger: Da nimmt er einen Mittelfeldspieler als Libero in die Verteidigung zurück. Hinter dieser Abwehrmauer steht Goalie Daniel Bogdan, der nach Meinung vieler Experten eine Chance im Nationalteam verdient hätte. Im Spielaufbau läuft alles über den ehemaligen Steaua-Spieler Narcis Raducan. Er hat im letzten Sommer aus der Hauptstadt Bukarest nach Bacau gewechselt und die hohen Erwartungen erfüllt.
