The city of Piatra Neamt was developed under Nicolae Ceausescu's regime (from 1967 onward), which explains today's rather bland townscape. The club, presided by the businessman Gheorghe Stefan (51), have been playing for six years in the highest league. Their best result was rank 5 in 1995. Although Ceahlaul abolished amateurism, there is not much money to win in Piatra Neamt. Now, the club reach out abroad for the first time. Coach Viorel Hizo started his coaching career in 1988 with Inter Sibiu. After working in Brasov and with Dinamo Bukarest he joined Piatra Neamt. Ceahlaul, which have no internationals, excel with fighting spirit, an excellent home record and defensive tactics. Their cautious 4-4-2 system at home turns into a 5-3-2 abroad. Defender Cristinel Atomulesei is known for his pitilessness, and free kick specialist Mihai Matei missed many games last season due to injuries. Die Stadt Piatra Neamt hat sich unter der Regierung Nicolae Ceausescus (ab 1967) entwickelt, worunter das heutige Stadtbild leidet. Der Verein von Präsident und Geschäftsmann Gheorghe Stefan (51) spielt seit sechs Jahren in der höchsten Liga. Seine bisher beste Klassierung erreichte er 1995 mit Rang 5. Ceahlaul ist zwar von seinem Amateurstatus abgekommen, Geld gibt es in Piatra Neamt aber weiterhin wenig zu verdienen. Nun wagt sich der Kleinklub erstmals auf internationales Gebiet. Viorel Hizo stieg 1988 bei Inter Sibiu ins Trainer-Metier ein. Über Brasov und Dinamo Bukarest stiess er vor einem Jahr zu Piatra Neamt, das keine Nationalspieler unterhält. Ceahlaul zeichnet sich durch Kampfgeist, Heimstärke und eine defensive Spielweise aus. Das vorsichtige 4-4-2-System wird auswärts zum 5-3-2. Verteidiger Cristinel Atomulesei ist kein Kind von Traurigkeit. Freistossspezialist Mihai Matei fiel letzte Saison oft verletzt aus.
