Since 1988, Hammarby have been relegated three times from Allsvenska and were promoted again to the highest league in Sweden. When the experienced coach Rolf Zetterlund took over two years ago, many fans of the very popular club did not like his coming at all, as he had the reputation of playing a defensive, dull style. The small Söderstadium, which holds only 10,200, however, was fairly crowded on most occasions, because the team were promoted in Zetterlund's second year already and finished third in the 1. Division, the best result in decades. This winter the team lost their defender from Iceland, Peter Martinsson, to Stabaek (NOR), and as goalkeeper Lars Eriksson has been missing due to an injury since the second game, Hammarby had a very bad start into the new season (four points only, last place after five rounds). -ba
Hammarby stieg seit 1988 dreimal aus der Allsvenska, der höchsten Liga Schwedens, ab und wieder auf. Als der erfahrene Trainer Rolf Zetterlund vor gut zwei Jahren seine Stelle beim populären Hammarby antrat, war dies von den zahlreichen Supportern wegen seiner angeblich defensiven, langweiligen Spielweise nicht gern gesehen. Das heimische Söderstadion, das nur 10'200 Zuschauern Platz bietet, war in der Folge aber meistens sehr gut gefüllt, denn die Stockholmer stiegen im zweiten Amtsjahr Zetterlunds auf und erreichten in der 1. Division gleich den 3. Rang. Es war dies die beste Plazierung Hammarbys seit Jahrzehnten. Diesen Winter verloren die Schweden den isländischen Verteidiger Peter Martinsson an Stabaek (NOR). Weil Torhüter Lars Eriksson seit dem zweiten Meisterschaftsspiel zudem verletzt ausfällt, startete Hammarby schlecht in die neue Saison (erst vier Punkte und letzter Platz nach fünf Runden). -lb
